Andy Turner and Ed Handley are old school friends who have been producing music together since 1989, when they founded, The Black Dog, with Ken Downie. Their first album as Plaid, Mbuki Mvuki, was self-released on their label, Black Dog Productions in 1991 and led to their signing to Warp Records. They wrote two albums for Warp with Downie, as The Black Dog, Bytes and Spanners, before leaving to pursue their Plaid collaboration. Since, they have released the albums, Not for Threes, Restproof Clockwork, Trainer, Double Figure, Spokes and Scintilli, often collaborating with acoustic musicians for the recordings.

Their passion for collaboration has enabled them to embrace diverse musical and visual influences. Producing recording artists such as Björk (One Little Indian), Mara Carlyle (Accidental Records) and Nicolette (Talking Loud), as well as developing shows with The Southbank Gamelan Players, The London Sinfonietta and academics from SARC (The Sonic Arts Research Centre in Belfast) amongst others. They have been involved in the development of various new music technologies, Bruno Zamborlin's Mogees system, Felix Thorn's project Felix's Machines and other software production tools, most notably being featured artist for Apple's Logic Studio software.

Plaid's interest in live audio visual performance, led to their work with the visual artist Bob Jaroc and their surround sound DVD release, Greedy Baby. They have also collaborated on short form video with other directors including the Parisian collective, PLEIX (for Creative Review), Chris Turner (for the English National Ballet) and Evan Boehm (for The Creators Project). They composed the soundtracks for Michael Arias' feature films, Heaven's Door and Tekkonkinkreet, awarded a Japanese Academy Prize in 2006 for best Animated picture.

ROEL FUNCKEN

Prolific dutch producer Roel Funcken has established himself an agile and meticulous sonic craftsman, whose output is as accessible as it is innovative. last year, he opened for Flying Lotus and Tipper during their last US tour. Most recently he toured japan playing together with Bvdub, Ametsub and Magical mistakes, he played in madrid for the strandbeest exposition from Theo Jansen and played at his own mindcamp event together with esem, flint kids and syl kougai.

As half of the group Funckarma, he has recorded for esteemed labels as Skam, Ad Noiseam, Arcola (Warp), Isophlux, Marguerita and others. In 2010 Roel felt it was time to express his own work more cohesively. Since then he has released the full length albums 'Vade' (Ad Noiseam) and 'Mercury Retrograde' (Schematic). More recent stuff are the 'From the Archive'-series, a remix compilation and two fresh hip hop projects: Ndangr Species ('Night Terrors') and Brmstn ('Ventcha tru da Vortexxx'). The latest projects worth mentioning is the new Legiac album with Cor Bolten, the Faex has Decimated, the instrumental versions of the Ndangr Species release. Currently he is working on a new solo studio album of which you can find tracks in the methlab mix (styx, cantweleaveit, stabb zoid). Plus he has a new ambient mix ready for Headphone Commute, which is called “The Voynich Manuscript mix” named after the forthcoming legiac ambient release.

DIRK GEIGER

Dirk Geiger was born in 1975 in Tübingen Germany. Even in his younger years he was involved in music, at the age of 15 he began to DJ and within a few years began to produce his own music and formed the band “Kraftmaschine” which he still takes an active part in. For the past few years Dirk Geiger has been working on a self titled solo project in which he mainly produces music that could fall into the genres of IDM, Glitch, and Ambient.

In 2002 he formed the music label “Raumklang Music” www.raumklang-music.de which he still today heads.

Artist based in Bucharest, yvat brings a fresh Eastern look over electronic music, both destructured and melodic, in fresh glitch arrangements. Under the alias of "yvat", his music is known in the IDM field for the collaboration with wonderful labels like Detroit Underground, Boltfish, Cactus Island and many others and for the numerous albums--more than 30. High quality of fine crafted analogue sound is guaranteed by over 10 years of studio practice as sound designer, being one of Uebeschall producers.

A forty-five minutes AV show introduces the new Yvat album, ENLIVENER, released by DETROIT UNDERGROUND, U. S.
The audience is provoked to experience a complete trip in a spectacular flashy and surrealist ambiance. Wearing 3D glasses, the public will enjoy touchy, amusing, yet sometimes scary visual metaphors in colorful 3D projections.

Classic 3D visuals filmed in stereoscopic technique for glasses with lens of different colors are emphasized by welldesigned analogue sound and textures. Electronic sound merge in fresh underground, yet mass appealing arrangements, in a live performance of experimental electronica. The audio show is exclusively live performed with analogue synths and devices on stage. Versatile, oversensitive, touchy and catchy voices that will haunt your ears for days come to complete the experience.
