Shortparis

Shortparis is a Russian alternative rock band that was formed in 2012. Aside from their activism (during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Shortparis released a music video protesting against war), the band is known for their experimental sound that combines elements of post-punk, electronic music, and industrial rock. Shortparis's lyrics often deal with themes of social and political discontent, and their music has been described as intense and emotionally charged. The band's lineup consists of Nikolay Komiagin, Pavel Nikitin, Andrey Gavrilov, and Maksim Komiagin, and they have released three full-length albums and several EPs.
Shortparis performs songs in Russian, French, and English. According to John Doran of The Quietus, Shortparis is following in Sergey Kuryokhin's legacy of provocative performance art; Doran describes the group as "Ambitious, bombastic, incredibly pretentious, erotic, thrilling, impossible to pin down, vaguely deviant, fun to dance to and full of revolutionary potential"
